I am a concerned neighbor, and I too want to help save Jacob Gunther school. I have many neighbors who support me on this, who all want to help save the school. We saw on News12 that there was going to be a Rally, but didn't know when. We all signed a petition, to no avail. The community wants to save the school, but no one informs us of anything. The PTA only informs the parents of the children, and has not involved the community whatsoever! We are extremely unhappy with the way the PTA has been going about this without informing the community. We hope & pray that our school does not close. One would think they'd close a middle school before closing an elementary school. The middle school only has 3 grades (7,8,9), and Jacob Gunther has (K-6). We just need to vent how we feel as a community, hoping we could save the school! We thought their was a Facebook page, but we can't locate it at this time. This is why we decided to post here. Thanks from North Bellmore community of neighbors.

I have one child in Saw Mill who just finished kindergarten. His experience was terrific and I feel terrible for the parent who had a bad experience with her child who is an inclusion child. I am also a teacher and I believe that teaching tolerance to your children is first and foremost. I hope that any new students and parents entering Saw Mill have as positive an experience as I had.

We have had a very positive experience at this school. My son made tremendous progress as a result of the excellent teachers. They have motivated him and boosted his self esteem. The school staff is very professional and they encourage parental involvement. The only negative to the district is that there are no after school extra curricular activities for the students.

MARTIN AVENUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

I think that Martin Avenue is a great place to learn. My child is so happy here, and in fact is exceeding our expectations of what we thought that they would be learning for this year. It seems as though some people with personal issues are hurting the rating of a great school, on this website. Anyone nowadays with internet access can bash schools, restaurants, etc. due to one bad experience and then blanket an institution with a bad reputation. Maybe this parent should put their energy toward scheduling a meeting with the administrative staff, or teacher to resolve any issues. 'TLC' is given at home. Also, love, confidence, stability and nurturing for a child's confidence is sowed at home. Perhaps instead of passing the buck for poor academic performance/behavior, parents should take some responsibility for sending in a well-prepared student, ready to learn.

John F Kennedy higschool is a great school, with a great atmosphere and great professors. I attribute much of my success to the teachers that were there while I attended highschool. The teachers that walked the hallways were always more than welcoming and always made time for the students. Professors were not scared to challenge students or offer an alternative view on any idea, situation. Without the right mentors or individuals pushing you to the best of your ability, challenging you and constanly making you think, you never will reach your full potential . And that is what teachers strive for at JFK, they want the best for there students.

This school is excellent. There are great sports and music programs. Since, there's new administration, they'll help us get back on track and be more disciplined. The teachers do care about you and they want you to pass and graduate. If a student has a problem, they could always go to their guidance councelor for support. Guidance is very supportive of the whole student body. All students and teachers are like a family, in which they watch out and take care for each other.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Regional School not only prepares students for high school, it prepares students for life! The excellent staff of educatiors promote and enhance each student's emotional, spiritual, educational and social growth. The school offers a special personal touch, bar none. Each individual student is challenged and encouraged not only to do his/her best, but to display respectable behavior. The values that are reinforced each and every day are those which we want our children to have as adults in our diverse society. The coursework is challenging and there are many extra curricular activities to choose from. The school offers: 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade soccer, basketball, softball and baseball; choir; chorus; drama club; student council; National Junior Honor Society and band.
