I found the K-Center to be a wonderful teaching enviornment for my child. Her teacher couldn't have been better. My only grievences with it is they don't allow mom's with younger children to be a part of much of their older childrens school experience because they cannot help. The other is the school nurse does not allow you to talk to your child if she calls you regarding your sick child.

This is the best school I have ever been to! It is like a private school. The kids there are great and the teachers are very interactive and caring. All the students at this school aim high to be the best academically. Truly, a wonderful environment for learning.

Our family moved to Plainview in January 2007. Our daughter was attending PS 166 in Queens. Immediately after starting first grade at Parkway, we saw a drastic change in her overall attitude towards school. In Queens, she was unhappy and the work load was overwhelming. At Parkway, she has time to learn as well as time to be a 6 year-old. She loves going to school, loves her teacher, loves to do homework and is a much happier child. We are thrilled with the effect Parkway has had on our daughter!

I graduated from this school in 2004. Yes, there is a big bullying problem there (welcome to Plainview, where the rich kids will pick on the poor kids, and honestly the bullying problem isn't that bad, the school actually does do everything they can to prevent it and stop it) but other than that, it is a GREAT school. I can say this because after middle school I was forced to move to Florida and witnessing how the schools are down here, you don't realize how good you have it. You actually have decent teachers who have good degrees and know what they're talking about. Your special education department (my brother is autistic so he went through the program) is SO good, ours in Florida is horrible. I know they've changed things since I graduated (we didn't have MAP or whatever it is) but we had things like 7th period where you could stay an extra hour of school to get extra tutoring with the teacher or for a club. We had clubs, but it wasn't an extra "period" and if we wanted help with a subject, you gotta wait until the next day in class because the teachers are gone the second the bell rings for school to end. POB Middle is a great school with teachers who DO care.

BAYLIS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

I had two children go to Baylis and they received a great education. While there is occassionally a not-great teacher, the vast majority are excellent - especially the enrichment teacher. I give a lot of credit to the principal for maintaining a well run school. The PTA is also extremely involved and provides a lot of programs for the kids & families. The school building could use some updating (it's 50 years old) and it doesn't have a cafeteria where kids can buy lunch. Overall all though I am very pleased with the education my children received both academically and socially.

I absolutly love this school, i think all of the teachers are great, the staff is always very helpful when entering the school, everyone is always very friendly, her experience in the first grade was unbelievable, every first grader should have a teacher like mrs seawald, she is an energetic ,outragious teacher . Who really moves those children along from a to z. I was very impressed. My daughter loves going to school here, this is a school that knows how to have fun!
