At the present the school is upgrading their Web page and also their curriculum has changed to be more like the standards method used in Public School of NY. I find that children read earlier and have a better reading and comprehension average than those that are at the public system. |

I have read the comments and what I can't understand is if you are not satisfied with the results of St Sylvester why do you keep your children their. I have never had a bad experience with the faculty, staff or principal. They ahve offered help in areas that would have gone untouched by a public school. I think the school is fantastic, united and really work as a team.

My children attend ps 202. PreK- 4th grade. They love their teachers and I admit I do too. After attending a PTA meeting and volunteering in the school, I see the activities and extra curriculum programs offered. It feels good to know that my children are being involved in the positive things that interest them. I see 6,7 and 8th graders helping Pre K- 3rd grade students with tutoring. I'm looking forward to seeing more programs for the students. There are performing arts, after school programs, award ceremonies, holiday festivities and multi cultural festivals too. I'm saying this because I was a parent who wanted more from 202. I see a drastic change that is exciting and I will continue to be an active parent at 202. |

My son has attended PS 224 since Pre-K. The teachers are very dedicated to the children. The early morning tutoring is excellent. There is however the method of teaching that should be rethought. The children are not taught the fundamentals of math, reading and writing instead are prepared to take state wide tests. The children are definitely loosing out on the full educational experience. There is not enough time spent on the actual learning. This new method bounces them from subject to subject. The teachers are doing the best with what they have. When do we start teaching reading comprehension, understanding of mathematics and phonics. In order to excel we can't have just great teachers, but a great program. There has to be a happy medium other wise the children will be suffering in the end.

I used attend this school, and in my opinion it is the best one that I have ever gone to. I was always encouraged to do my best and I always did with the help of my helping fellow classmates and teacher. The teacher and students there are very nice. I wish I was the school was up to 8th grade so that I could still attend this school. I remember when I was graduating and I was reading a speech about the 4 years that I was in the school and every other student in my auditorium agreed that P.S.7 was the best thing that happened to them and that they will miss this school terribly.
